Wedding Directory Bridebook had the enormous task of putting together a site which allowed users to search for every type of supplier associated with planning a wedding. They also wanted to give them tools that tracked the complex task of organising a wedding.
I came on board to create flows, wireframes and prototypes that mapped out the site’s dashboard as well as create pages for all the different types of suppliers.
We started off with a persona overview, which is great for stakeholders to see, detailed personas, empathy maps and behaviour flow for the bride, the family member and the supplier. These addressed a number of issues that were identified by talking to users. These included being able to include other family members, having all the planning tools in one place, and being able to estimate how much the total bill was without complicated excel spreadsheets.
As anyone who knows me will know, I like to create flows that outline the basic concepts but don’t want to get bogged down in the specifics. A wireframe prototype will communicate to the team in a much more effective way.
We began with a focus that was squarely centred around search but over a few iterations decided to actually focus the user on their dashboard first, outlining the features and tools on offer and then push them into search when it was relevant.
This early concepting work set the project off in the right direction. Now live they are building a fantastic community of wedding planners and vendors.
